2021 Knitting Summit Classes & Supply List

CLASS 1 – Paper “Stained Glass” Shadow Art by Connie Marie Lusto

What you will need for this class::

• Plain white paper or cardstock
• Black marker: Permanent is best for the black marker to prevent it from spreading into other colors
• Various colored markers: These do not have to be permanent!
• Ruler or other straight edge
• A small, freestanding toy figure to create a shadow for your silhouette ( Toy dinosaur, doll, plastic animals, etc. )
• A stationary light source to create a shadow ( i.e. lamp, or if it’s a nice day outside, the sun! )
• Drop cloth, old newspapers, etc. to protect table
• Black frame or mat to make your finished masterpiece POP! ( Optional )

CLASS 2 – Flippy Chick Plushie by Jennifer Nicolella

What you will need for this class:

• 1/4 yd red felt
• 1/2 yd yellow felt
• Black, white and pink felt remnants
• Polyfil or fabric scraps
• Needle
• Thread
• Black embroidery floss

CLASS 3 – Fabric Coaster by Amelia Keating

What you will need for this class:

• Knit fabric (scraps or old clothes are perfect)
• Sharp scissors to cut fabric

CLASS 4 – Hand Sewn T-Rex Part – 1 by Chaney Mobley

What you will need for this class:

• Two – 9×12 felt sheet of Green
• Scrap of Black Felt
• Embroidery floss or thread to match
• Hand sewing needle
• Fabric scissors
• Paper scissors
• Clips/pins

Note: You’ll need a non-fraying fabric for this project.

CLASS 5 – The Swish Messenger Bag: How to sew and decorate a simple shoulder bag! by Linda Maki

What you will need for this class:

• Sewing machine with a Universal sewing machine needle: 90/14 for medium weight fabric or 100/16 for heavy weight fabric
• Iron, if available
• Pattern included
• Fabric 1/2 Yard or 1/2 Metre of Cotton
• Matching thread
• Scissors for cutting fabric
• Long ruler or measuring tape
• Marking pen or chalk marker
• Pins or clips
• Bits of lace
• Felt pieces
• Buttons
• Beads or ribbon to decorate your Bag

CLASS 6 – Reverse Tie Dye by Emily Thompson

What you will need for this class:

• Bleach
• Rubber bands
• Gloves
• Colored t-shirts
• Water for rinsing

CLASS 7 – How to Make a Headband by Lurdys Gordon

What will you need for this class:

• Yarn
• A crochet hook that corresponds to the yarn ( I used worsted weight yarn and a size H hook )
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Stitch markers ( Bobby pins or different color of yarn )

CLASS 8 – How to cut and sew apron by Ifeoma Nwokoye

What will you need for this class:

• One yard of a thick (ish) or normal fabrics
• One yard Landen ( Optional )
• Scissors
• Thread that matches the fabric
• Pencil or tailoring chalk
• Measurement tape
• Sewing machine

CLASS 9 – A Lovely Owl in Quilling Paper by Pily Nuñez

What will you need for this class:

• Strips of quilling paper 6 millimeters (1/4 “”) wide by 45 long in the following colors: brown, white, green, black, yellow and pink.Orange strip, 3 millimeters (1/8 “”) wide by 20 centimeters long, for the beak of the owl.All the strips you’ll use are 6 millimeters wide, except for the oranges which are 3 millimeters wide.
• 15 square centimeters cardboard where we will paste the design
• Slotted Quilling Tool
• Tweezers
• Ruler of circles
• Transparent drying glue. The use of a fine tip applicator is recommended so as not to exceed the amount of glue required.
• Scissors
• Ruler

CLASS 1 – Hoop Art – Pear Tree by Agnes Bobak

What you will need for this class:

• Embroidery hoop ( 6 inches or more, the one in the video is 6 inches but as there is no given pattern, the ideas can be adapted for all other sizes )
• Plain fabric about 1 inch larger than the hoop
• Some different buttons ( I used 17, yellow, green and pink )
• Needle and thread/embroidery floss
• Scissors
• Tailors chalk/disapearing ink pen/pencil
• A piece of ribbon ( for 1 bow )
• A little piece of felt ( max 1 x 2 inch )

What you will need for this class:

• Fleece or stable knit fabric ( Think double knit )
• Felt

• Polyfil or fabric scraps to stuff

• Sheepjes Stone Washed (50% Cotton, 50% Acrylic | Sport/baby | 50 g (1.8 oz) = 130 m (142 yds))

• Crochet hook size 4.0 mm (G/6)
• Tapestry needle

CLASS 4 – Paper Mache Bowls by Vanessa Salatino

What you will need for this class:

• Paper or newspaper
• Water Two big bowls
• Strainer
• Blender or Handheld Immersion Blender
• 1/2 cup Elmers Glue
• Small bowl to use as a mold
• Saran Wrap

CLASS 5 – How to make a memory book using items you have around the house by Amanda Horsman

What you will need for this class:

CLASS 6 – Sewing a girl’s skirt with an elastic by Josie Magoola

What you will need for this class:

• A yard of fabric
• 3/4 inch of elastic
• Tape measure
• Fabric marker or chalk
• Pins
• Scissors
• Sewing gauge (Optional)
• Lace (Optional)

CLASS 7 – Puff Monsters! by Dee Taylor

What you will need for this class:

• Yarn – Medium Weight (4)/ Color is up to you!
• Scissors
• Wiggly Eyes – Size .59in
• Glue Stick or Hot Glue Gun
• Newspaper or Construction Paper

CLASS 8 – Scavenger Hunt Wind Chime Craft by Amanda Arguellez

What you will need for this class:You will need to be creative and try to recycle/reuse any supplies using your surroundings. First you’ll need a paper and pen to write down and make a list for your scavenger hunt!For the Easy Wood Wind Chime:

• Scissors
• A fallen (1) 8-10in stick
• A small bundle of either yarn
• Embroidery thread or twine

Hanging Bits

• (10-15) 3-5in smaller sticks and twigs

For the Advanced Trinket Wind Chime:

REMEMBER you can replace any or all the hanging bits with whatever you have available to you for example shells, beads, leaves, flowers, cans, empty paper rolls etc. just be creative as possible!

What you will need for this class:

• A piece of card
• Coloured paper
• Sellotape
• Scissors
• A pencil
• A ruler
• A heart shaped cutter to draw around – or feel free to draw your own

CLASS 3 – The Market Tote Bag – how to sew a simple bag TWO ways! by Linda Maki

What you will need for this class:

• A dinner plate
• Cotton fabric: TWO pieces both 18” long x 15” wide (or 46 cm long x 38 cm wide)
• An woman’s medium sized tee shirt
• Thread
• Scissors for cutting fabric
• Pins
• Long ruler or measuring tape
• Marking pen
• Sewing machine, with Universal sewing machine needles: 80/12 or 90/14

If you prefer sewing with metric measurements, here they are:

• 4” ( or 10 cm) for the “”shoulders”
• 3” (or 8 cm) down at the centre fold
• 7” (or 18 cm) for the handle opening.

CLASS 4 – Circle Weaving by Nicole Duggan

What you will need for this class:

• Paper plate
• Marker
• Scissors
• 1 skein, of yarn, your color choice

CLASS 5 – Fun Finger Crochet Scarf by Jennifer Dickerson

What you will need for this class:

• 1 ball of super bulky yarn (some great choices are: Wool Ease
  Thick & Quick from Lion Brand Yarn, Bernat Blanket, Red Heart
  Sweet Home, Bernat Baby Blanket)
• A pair of scissors

CLASS 6 – How to crochet a Summer Bow Sun Hat by Anitah Nairuku

What you will need for this class:

• Crochet hook 3.mm/E
• Yarn: ROBIN CHUNKY 100% Acrylic 100g 3ply. /size 4 yarn-1 1/2 to 2 balls
• 100g darning needle

CLASS 7 – Sewing Machine Basics by Victoria Peat

What you will need for this class:

• Nothing is required – learn about sewing machines!
